Epson said it is seeing strong unit shipments of its high-capacity ink tank printers with year-on-year growth of more than 20%. It said that sales were “off to a strong start in North America” and that global shipments in the current financial year would exceed five million.
Sales for the six months to 30 September at Epson’s Printing Solutions division grew 6.1% to ¥356.6 billion ($2.9 billion) as high-capacity ink tank sales grew “sharply” in Asia and in other regions. Sales also benefitted from favourable currency exchange.
Operating profit at the division decreased more than 20% to ¥44 billion as Epson complained of intensified price competition in the inkjet market in Japan and North America. Tokyo, Japan
