Zhuhai Aicon image Co., Ltd the Chinese
Toner Counterfeiter Who Claims of Being Counterfeited.

Zhuhai Aicon Image Co., Ltd., one of China’s largest manufacturers of compatible toner and ink cartridges, finds itself in a curious and controversial position: as both a victim of counterfeiting and a perpetrator of it. While Aicon publicly denounces counterfeit products, the company’s own toner cartridges raise serious questions about intellectual property violations. Their products, widely distributed as compatible alternatives, blatantly disregard the patent protections of original manufacturers, suggesting that a significant portion of their range is, in fact, counterfeit.

Earlier this year, Aicon issued a stern warning to its customers about counterfeit cartridges. They claimed these knockoffs harm their brand, mislead consumers, and disrupt the market. Aicon called on its customers to report counterfeit products to law enforcement, positioning themselves as the champion of authenticity. However, in a twist of irony, Aicon itself seems to be engaging in the very practices it condemns.

Take the i-Aicon toner cartridges compatible with HP CE505A/280A and HP CE505X/280X, for instance. These products are a clear violation of Canon’s patent rights. In their efforts to protect their brand, Aicon is simultaneously violating the intellectual property of others. The company that claims to fight counterfeiting is, paradoxically, involved in it itself—prosecuting those who imitate their products while profiting from the same tactics. The hypocrisy is undeniable.
