The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has seized a shipment of toner cartridges imported by Skyward Industry Inc., a company based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for violating a General Exclusion Order (GEO) currently in force. The seizure was initiated following a report by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which found that the imported goods infringed upon the USITC’s prior ruling in Investigation No. 337-TA-1174.
The GEO prohibits the importation of certain products that infringe on intellectual property rights, particularly patents. The original investigation was prompted by a complaint from Brother Industries, which provided evidence that the toner cartridges in question violated its patents.
The USITC issued the seizure and forfeiture order on May 8, 2025, applying it to Skyward Industry Inc. and any affiliated parties. This enforcement underscores the USITC’s continued commitment to protecting patent holders from unauthorized imports.
