Remembering Steven Giannetta, The Toner King Who Shaped an Industry.
Celebrating the Life and Legacy of a Toner Industry Legend.

We are deeply saddened to share that Steven Giannetta, affectionately known in the industry as “The King of Toner,” passed away this week, surrounded by his loving friends and family.

Steven was a true expert in the printing and toner industry, and his insights helped shape not only Tonernews.com but also the broader conversations and direction of the aftermarket toner industry. For many years, we at Tonernews.com had the privilege of speaking with Steven almost every evening, discussing the challenges, future, and survival of the print and toner industries.

He was a passionate advocate for the U.S. remanufacturing and recycling sectors and was never afraid to speak his mind—particularly on the topic of cloned toner products. In 2019, both Steven and Tonernews.com faced legal action from China’s Aster Graphics due to his outspoken views on the global spread of clone toner, a battle rooted in his strong beliefs about protecting the integrity of the industry. Despite his criticisms, Steven also worked from time to time with companies in China, navigating a complex industry landscape with pragmatism and resilience. He maintained relationships across all borders, often speaking candidly with foreign leaders in the toner sector while always keeping his heart close to the American aftermarket community.

Several years ago, Steven relocated to Austin Texas due to health concerns, where he found love and renewed joy with his wife and recently had two beautiful daughters. He continued to remain active in the industry and in the lives of those who knew him best.

Craig Faczan: “Steve was a great friend for 19 years. He was always beloved as a trusted source and full of honesty with his contacts across the globe.  His deep knowledge is why he was the “King of Toner”. We talked almost every day – especially after his hospitalization and prayed together for each other.  Late night talks, prayers for each other were always inspirational to keep moving on – even when he was not doing well.  He was a genuine man and his enthusiasm and passion for the industry will never be matched.  I will miss you, my good friend.”

Steven Giannetta: The King of Toner Will Never Be Forgotten
Steven’s passing is a great loss to the imaging and toner industry. His opinions, guidance, and spirit will continue to influence the industry for years to come. As Jim Cerkleski, Chairman of Clover Imaging, so aptly put it, Steven was “one of the nicest guys in the industry, a true gentleman.”. Steven will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the contributions he made. He often referred to himself as the “King of Toner”—and we couldn’t agree more. Rest in peace, Steven Giannetta.
