Navigator Company Secures €40 Million EIB Loan to Boost Sustainability
The Navigator Company, a leading Portuguese manufacturer of paper and pulp products, has received a €40 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This funding marks the first part of a larger €80 million package aimed at supporting Navigator’s ambitious decarbonization and sustainability goals.
The loan will finance key projects such as converting limekilns to biomass, installing biomass-based boilers, adding cogeneration turbines, and developing photovoltaic plants. Additionally, Navigator plans to launch a new plant producing molded fiber packaging from eucalyptus pulp, a renewable alternative to plastic packaging.
This initiative aligns with EU climate and energy goals, including the TechEU and REPowerEU programs. Navigator is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, investing heavily in renewable energy and sustainable production methods. The EIB’s support highlights the importance of sustainable industrial transformation in Europe and strengthens Navigator’s position as a leader in eco-friendly manufacturing.
