Suspicious device in Richland turns out to be printer repair kit

RICHLAND, Wash. – The bomb squad "disrupted" a briefcase tossed outside the medical building at 945 Goethals. The highrise is home to a number of Kadlec doctors, including Associated Physicians for Women. A robot sent a high-powered blast of water through the briefcase. It was found to contain a printer repair kit.

The tossed briefcase was considered suspicious since it was spotted next to an electrical box.

Richland Police Captain Mike Cobb told KEPR there was no reason to believe this was a highly-dangerous situation, but it was concerning since it was next to the electrical unit.

A digital x-ray did not show anything suspicious inside. Richland Police and the bomb squad were leaving the area after 5pm Monday.
