Patent assertion entity (PAE), commonly referred to as a “patent troll,” VDPP, LLC has initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against Canon U.S.A., Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Filed on November 25, 2025, the suit (case number 3:25-cv-03250) centers on alleged infringement of patents related to 3D viewing technology. The asserted patents cover technologies such as variable tint filter spectacles and faster state transitioning for continuous adjustable stereoscopic viewing

VDPP, LLC is characterized by the plaintiff-side litigation analytics firm RPX Corp as a patent troll that primarily enforces its patent portfolio through legal action. The lawsuit seeks relief from the alleged infringement, and the plaintiff has demanded a jury trial [1, 2].
Further information regarding the litigation can be accessed via the RPX Corp litigation insight page here.
