Rechargers Urged to Take a Stand on HR 2735

Rechargers across the globe are encouraged to take a stand to support HR 2735, the Right to Repair Act. Although the Act specifically relates to motor vehicles, The same premise applies to the rest of the remanufacturing industry. HR 2735 is intended to protect remanufacturers from being restricted from fair access to information, parts and tools necessary to produce replacement products.

In hopes of gaining enough support from state representatives to pass HR 2735 and initiate a congressional investigation into the unfair practice of certain OEMs, remanufacturers are urged to contact their state representatives and voice their concerns over the violation of their right to remanufacture. At the moment, an increasing number of OEMs are monopolizing the laser printer cartridge market by using chips and other technology to “lock out” remanufacturers from necessary information and supplies needed to compete in the aftermarket. If this bullying tactic continues, the art of remanufacturing will eventually become obsolete.

We can make a difference! Contact your local state representative today and let your voice be heard. Simply log on to http://www.house.gov and enter your zip code. The site automatically links you to your state representative’s home page where contact information is available.
