Lexmark and Xerox Should Make KILIDER the Next Legal Target.
China’s KILIDER has boldly unveiled new “compatible” Lexmark KLD-CS531 and Xerox KLD-C415 toner cartridges for the latest Lexmark and Xerox printers, but instead of applauding another clone cartridge launch, the OEMs should be asking one question: Is it time to sue? If Lexmark or Xerox believe KILIDER’s products infringe their patents, trade dress, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights, they should immediately take the fight to court and pursue injunctions, damages, and import bans wherever the law allows. For decades, clone manufacturers have rushed to market with replacement cartridges following every major OEM product launch, testing the limits of intellectual property enforcement. TonerNews believes the only language habitual clone producers truly understand is aggressive legal action—and if KILIDER has crossed the legal line, Lexmark and Xerox should make an example of it before the next wave of clone cartridges hits the global market.
