Heidelberg expects to generate around €50 million (£42.8 million) in recurring annual revenue following its acquisition of the Manroland Sheetfed lifecycle business, strengthening its position in the profitable printing press aftermarket. The deal gives Heidelberg access to Manroland Sheetfed’s established installed base and expands its business in spare parts, maintenance, technical service, upgrades and other lifecycle products, creating a more predictable source of revenue beyond one-time printing press sales. The acquisition is part of Heidelberg’s broader strategy to grow its Digital Solutions and Lifecycle operations while increasing recurring income from customers throughout the lifetime of their printing equipment. By taking control of the service and aftermarket side of the Manroland Sheetfed business, Heidelberg is betting that the real long-term value of a printing press may not end when the machine is sold—but could continue for years through parts, service and support.
