100 Xerox employees Evacuated After Chemical Leak at US Toner Plant

Some Xerox employees in Webster have been evacuated after chemical leak.

Xerox officials tells News10NBC that a 55 gallon drum of a chemical of monochlorobenzene leaked inside Building 218 on Phillips Road in Webster. The building, which is a plant for photo receptors(testing facility) was evacuated and the Monroe County Hazmat and local fire departments were called to evaluate the situation. About 100 people were evacuated.

Officials say no one was hurt and the chemical had a low risk as a health hazard, but is a skin and eye irritant and it is flammable.

Hazmat and Xerox crews are still working to clean up the mess. Some workers have been allowed back into the building.
