CORVALLIS — The federal government says nearly $1 million will go toward job placement assistance and other services for about 250 workers laid off from the Hewlett-Packard plant in Corvallis. The Corvallis Gazette-Times says the funds will pay for skills assessment, counseling, case management, job search assistance and relocation aid.The paper says those services are in addition to assistance available under the Trade Act of 1974, which helps American workers whose jobs are shipped overseas or lost to foreign competition. The U.S. Labor Department announced the grant Friday. For more information, visit http://www.gtconnect.com.
