Markham men and one Toronto man have been arrested in connection to a
$1.5-million cargo theft in Richmond Hill back in January. Last
Thursday, police in Markham and Toronto carried out search
warrants.Many items such as cellphones, a .22 calibre rifle, .45
calibre pistol, computer equipment, ink cartridges and about $8,000 in
cash were seized.Jan. 6, an employee at Lexmark Canada at 50 Leek Cres.
in Richmond Hill arrived to work to five a hole in the loading door and
a forklift parked near the hole.When he checked the warehouse, the
employee realized property was stolen including about 49 skids of
printer cartridges.The total value of the theft, including the
container used to transport the stolen items is $1.5 million,The five
men face charges of break and enter to commit, break and enter with
intent, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000,
possession of restricted/prohibited weapon and unsafe storage of a
firearm.
