400 Xerox employees help fight hunger
Hundreds of Xerox employees aren’t at work today but they’re not off for the holidays.
Nearly 400 of them are volunteering their time to help needy families in our community. They are putting together food baskets to fight hunger. This year, Xerox employees raised enough money to help about 2,500 people with food for a week or more this Christmas season.
This holiday campaign started 31 years ago with Tony Carlisi and and $195. “This year and the last few years — we’re collecting between 50 and 55,000 in a bad economy. It’s unbelievable.”Not only do they collect and pack up the food, they also deliver it directly to those in need. The families are selected by the House of Mercy Mission and the Community Place of Rochester. For more Rochester, N.Y. news go to our website http://www.whec.com.
