American Stationer Shows How To Survive The Big Wet.
In scenario familiar to many small businesses in flood prone regions of Australia, an American stationery store owner has saved thousands of dollars worth of stock by acting quickly following a heavy downpour which swamped his showroom. A bank of de-humidifiers quickly dried out Baker Office Supply.
Baker Office Supply in Greenfield, Massachusetts, was inundated when a large quantity of water came through the ceiling due a blocked downpipe.
“We inventoried the damaged stock and put it in bags and took it to the warehouse,” shop owner William Baker said. “We lost a display of wallets and leather goods, art supplies, a stack of paper and a lot of paper-based products – it was all ruined.”
The water also damaged light fittings and soaked the carpet and shelves.
Acting quickly, Baker installed a bank of de-humidifiers and fans and was able to re-open within two days of the flood.
