Suspicious package
blown up at PPL was an ink cartridge
ALLENTOWN PA
DEC 2009 :The suspicious package that the Allentown Bomb Squad blew up
after the city’s PPL Center was evacuated Monday contained an ink toner
cartridge, police said Thursday.”What was in that package was an ink
toner cartridge,” police Capt. Stephen Mould said. ”And they [the Bomb
Squad] believe it may have been part of a mailing,” possibly a sales
promotion.
Police and fire officials evacuated the Tower at PPL
Center, the Plaza at PPL Center and several related buildings Monday
afternoon after the small white box was spotted near a large flower pot
along Ninth Street. The city fire department brought in its bomb squad,
which X-rayed the package on the street. The X-ray was inconclusive, so
the package was blown up at 4:45 p.m.City police detectives were put in
charge of piecing together the package and its contents to determine
what it was

Authorities Identify Contents Of
Suspcious Package
A “suspicious package” that
caused quite a stir at the PPL Building in downtown Allentown earlier
this week wasn’t so suspicious after all. Investigators say an ink toner
cartridge was inside the package. The bomb squad was told about the box
Monday afternoon. The PPL building and other buildings in the area
were evacuated. The box was x-rayed and blown up. No one was hurt.
