BROTHER Int'l Philippines Corporation To Save The Marikina Watershed. Brother, PBSP to save Marikina Watershed
By MST Tech
BROTHER International Philippines Corporation, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), conducted a tree planting activity recently in an effort to save the Marikina Watershed.
Employees and volunteers from the two companies planted a total of 575 seedlings in Sitio Binayoyo, Barangay Calawis in Antipolo City.
The tree planting activity wass part of Brother Philippines’ Marikina Watershed Project that was started in 2010 to bring back the watershed’s capacity to hold water in order to prevent floods in Metro Manila and other low-lying areas. A total of 5,000 seedlings were planted in the area since the project started.
After the tree planting, Brother Philippines and PBSP led the turn-over of farming equipment which included a shredder, mixer and water pump to the community. The equipment will help them grow the fruit-bearing seedlings that were planted in their area.
This reforestation project is in line with the Brother Group’s commitment to contribute to the betterment of the environment.
