Canon Increases Investment in Taiwan by $1.05 Billion With New Plants

    By Global Times
Canon has increased its investment in Taiwan by $1.05 billion through a new plant in Taichung, which began construction Sunday, and another in Chiayi, which will open in August.

The two new plants, making Taiwan Canon’s largest overseas digital camera manufacturing base, will produce digital cameras and will buoy some Taiwanese Canon material suppliers.

Canon previously insisted that it would not do OEM outsourcing of its products outside of Japan, though it already has one assembly plant in Taiwan.
