Canon is Japanese Patent King in the United States for 10th Straight Year

When it comes to filing and obtaining patents from the US government, no Japanese company is as active as Canon. For the 10th straight year, Canon has ranked 1st among all Japanese companies in terms of patents awarded. Its 4,055 patents from 2014 also ranks Canon 3rd overall among all companies.

Here’s how Canon has ranked in terms of awarded patent quantity over the past 10 years among Japanese companies

Canon says that it actively works towards globalization by pursuing patents in countries based on that region’s unique business strategies, technology, and product trends: “The United States, with its many high-tech companies and large market scale, represents a particularly important region in terms of business expansion and technology alliances.”
