Canon U.S.A. Introduces imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 Series
( Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Canon U.S.A., Inc., a company focusing on digital imaging solutions, introduced the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 series of multifunction office systems.

Designed for busy workgroups that demand versatility in a compact space, the new models can help improve efficiency by allowing businesses to integrate processes and streamline tasks.

According to a release, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4251, 4245, 4235 and 4225 models provide black-and-white copying and printing at speeds of up to 51, 45, 35 and 25 letter-size pages-per-minute, respectively. With the introduction of this new series Canon now offers the Next Generation of imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs from 25 ppm to 105 ppm in black-and-white segments and 25 ppm to 80 ppm in color segments.

Introduced a year ago, Canon's Next Generation platform builds upon the established design, workflow, control, performance, and responsibility attributes of the previous generation. Compared to the prior generation, new features include a customizable user interface, standard Searchable PDF (OCR) and Scan to Office Open XML capabilities. Several security features that were previously only offered as options are now standard on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE Next Generation platform. The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 series incorporates these features as well as increased hard disk drive capacity, faster warm-up times, improved misfeed recovery features and IP Fax support.

Offering enhanced connectivity capabilities, the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFPs are designed to be the core of digital business communications where imaging technology, cloud connectivity, and mobile solutions converge in a unified platform. Using the company's MEAPTM embedded application platform, the new lineup continues Canon's ability to offer a variety of solutions and integrate with certain third party applications. The new systems are also key components of an overall Managed Document Services strategy aiding customers in achieving greater operational effectiveness associated with their document related needs.

"Canon offers an industry-leading and operationally consistent line of MFPs and printers," said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. "This means customers can implement advanced workflow and managed services tools across their MFP fleet to help their business achieve maximum efficiency without having to learn new or separate platforms." The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 Series models feature an 8.4- inch, full-color, high-resolution TFT screen that lets users select functions, access tutorials and view information available on the customizable interface. With the Next Generation platform, organizations now have the ability to customize the background wallpaper of the Main Menu user interface with designs, such as company logos. Used in combination with Canon's Enterprise Imaging Platform middleware technology, businesses can link the imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices to enterprise applications – such as Oracle, SAP and Salesforce.com – so complex business processes can be automated, reducing the potential for human error.

In addition, these models allow the user to save and store scanned documents from multiple locations. With this functionality, scanned documents can be distributed to multiple destinations, such as email or local folders, conveniently in one operation. These models also support up to four fax lines, work with a VoIP network, and have the ability to share the fax function of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE device.

The mobile and cloud functionality integrated into the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE lineup provides customers with the flexibility to work from virtually anywhere. Canon offers a number of solutions that allow users to print from and scan to select tablets or smartphones – and retrieve documents securely by logging in to the device to release a desired job. Users have convenient access to certain cloud-based applications directly from the MFPs by simply connecting to a chosen platform – such as Google Docs – to identify and send documents quickly.

To support these connectivity enhancements, the new imageRUNNER ADVANCE series offers multilayered security solutions to help safeguard information and support compliance. With HDD Erase, latent images can be removed after each task to protect information. Using HDD Erase Scheduler administrators can program when the erase procedure is to run and receive a printed confirmation when the process is completed. A specially designed security chip, the Trusted Platform Module with tamper-resistant hardware, helps safeguard passwords and encryption keys. And with Canon's AA-Print feature, a serverless solution, users can send a print job and retrieve the document by logging in to any supported networked device.

Canon's latest imageRUNNER ADVANCE lineup offers device management tools that help users monitor, track and analyze printer activities directly from a desktop computer, and even via cloud connectivity. Whether checking on a single device or an entire fleet, the easy-to-use imageWARE Enterprise Management Console provides real-time updates and alerts to service or supply-related issues. Additionally, solutions such as uniFLOW analyze output, direct jobs to the most cost-effective device, encourage resource- saving practices and allow businesses to allocate costs by department, project or client.

With an EPEAT Silver rating, the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 4200 series incorporates some eco-conscious features that support efficient business operations while helping reduce a business' environmental footprint. The combination of Canon's fusing technologies and toner help lower an organization's overall energy consumption by minimizing power requirements and reducing energy use during warm- up and standby modes. With these technologies present in each model, the lineup also meets ENERGY STAR standards and is designed with a compact size and weight, with less packaging to help make transportation more efficient and environmentally conscious.

Flexible paper feeding options include a dual-cassette feeding unit and a paper deck unit that offer an additional 3,800 sheets of paper to the 1,180 sheets available with the standard paper cassettes and bypass tray. A variety of finishing options, including an inner finisher with hole puncher, staple finisher, booklet finisher, and external hole puncher, allow businesses to configure the system to fit their needs. Accessibility options such as voice operation and guidance kits, a Braille label kit and an ADF access handle are designed to allow people with special needs to operate the MFP.

Canon U.S.A., Inc., is a provider of consumer, business-to- business, and industrial digital imaging solutions.
