Cartridges Are Us to expand
ITHACA
NEW YORK – A remanufacturer of inkjet printer cartridges plans to
expand, adding up to 186 jobs within five years.Cartridges Are Us,
which was founded in St. Johns in 1997, plans to spend $1.6 million on
its expansion project in the South Ithaca Industrial Park, the company
said Monday.It will receive a Michigan Economic Growth Authority tax
credit worth $1.1 million over seven years for the expansion, the
Michigan Economic Development Corp. said. The city of Ithaca is
expected to grant a Industrial Rehabilitation Credit for modifications
to an existing building and a 12-year tax abatement on new machinery
and equipment.Cartridges Are Us was sold to Ottawa, Ill.-based Clover
Technology Group in 2007. It has 79 workers in Ithaca and plans to add
75 jobs next year as it moves a Mexican operation to Michigan.
