China Apex Launches Counterfeit Samsung And Brother Toner Chips
The chip manufacturer has launched replacement chips for Samsung and Brother inkjet cartridges.

The Samsung launch refers to the most recent devices launched last October after the OEM’s printing business was acquired by HP Inc, with the chips featuring “SoC design” and “consistent performance” alongside “strong firmware-resistant technology”, SmartMatch technology compatibility and that they “can [be] used in [a] recycled cartridge”.

The “first-to-market” chips are used in the SL-J2920W and 2960FW printer and MFP, with the first of these two featuring print speeds of 30ppm in black and 26ppm in colours, with a resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 dpi. The second features print speeds of 30ppm in black and 29ppm in colour, and the same resolution, with Apex’s CMYK chips featuring yields of 1,000 pages in black and 825 pages in colour.

The Brother launch meanwhile covers four new models launched in the Japanese market earlier this year, with cartridges used in the models also able to be used in the LC211 series. The chips feature “ASIC design with consistent performance”, while “one-time use and CISS solution[s] are available”, and the chips also “pass the new firmware verification”.

These chips are also “first-to-market”, and can be used in the MFC-J837DN and DWN printers, with the CMYK chips featuring yields of 270 pages.
