Used printer cartridges coin in cash
for hospice
AN office supplies
company has presented St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice with £500 – thanks
to recycling used printer cartridges.Used inkjet cartridge collection
boxes have been placed in offices right across the county and since
Ilminster-based Samson Office Supplies joined forces with St Margaret’s
back in June, used and unwanted cartridges have coined in the cash for
the charity.Samson’s Dan Batten said: “We and our customers are
delighted to be helping St Margaret’s by raising funds for them.“Our
toner and inkjet cartridge recycling scheme not only helps raise vital
funds for the hospice, but also reduces the amount of cartridges sent to
landfill.”St Margaret’s fundraiser, Teresa Wort, added: “We are
extremely grateful that Samson Office Supplies have chosen to donate
the funds raised from their cartridge recycling scheme directly to St.
Margaret’s.“Thank you also to all the local businesses that have shown
their support by participating in the scheme.”If your office is
interested in raising funds for St. Margaret’s Somerset Hospice by
having a cartridge collection box, please contact Dan via e-mail on

Primary School In Ink Cartridge
Recycling Drive
A primary school in Lowestoft,
Suffolk, has taken part in a recycling drive of old ink cartridges and
mobile phones. The Dell primary school took part in the Norwich-based RPC
recycle scheme, which is a national fundraising campaign.Through
collecting old ink cartridges and mobile phones, the school was awarded a
cheque for £164.Beryl Hindes, head teacher of the school, told the
Lowestoft Journal that they were “delighted to receive this cheque, and
taking part in the recycling scheme was really simple.”She added:
“Everyone at the school has been involved and we will keep collecting.
It has been a great way to promote the importance of being green and
raise extra funds too. By allowing the school council to decide what to
spend the money on means that the children feel really involved.”The
scheme was run by Waveney Norse and Waveney District Council, both
located in the Lowestoft area.http://www.packagingessentials.com/2009/11/24/cartridge-collection-service-a-new-environmental-green-initiative-from-image2output-ltd/
Cartridge Collection Service – A New
Environmental Green Initiative from Image2output Ltd
Image2output Ltd have launched a new environmental green
initiative with their inkjet Cartridge Collection Service for recycling
purposes The free service is available to Epson wide format inkjet users
operating within the UK.The procedure is straightforward, on request,
Image2output supply a suitable box for the disposal of the Epson large
format cartridges with labelling designed to encourage “green
thinking”.When the box is full Image2output collect them and replace it
with a new empty box at no charge. These cartridges are a particularly
un-green issue as they comprise a small amount of electronics as well as
ink and plastic so can generally only be consigned to landfill
disposal. This initiative follows on from Image2out’s now well
established efforts with longer inkjet rolls (
http://www.image2output.com/prodlist.aspx?cat=79 45m & 60m) and custom
sized widths (e.g. a4 / a5) which have already reduced waste, packaging
and costs, (by as much as 50% for plastic end caps) Through its website
http://www.image2output.com welcome further ideas to improve the joint green
credentials of suppliers and users by reducing industrial waste volume
and costs further.Contact can be made through the website
enquiry form (www.image2output.com/Contact.aspx) to initiate the
cartridge collection service.Users are also encouraged to “tell a
friend” about this service with the online utility at
