Epson set to open office in Nigeria
NIGERIAN
users of Epson products may not have to worry again, how to get most of
their damaged equipment repaired as the global technology company, last
week promised to open an office in Nigeria by mid year for the purpose
of providing after sales support.
The company made the promise in a
2-day consumer event, attended by Resellers, and end users, in Lagos
last week. The company also in a classical marketing style facilitated
by Technology Distributions Limited, revealed the depth of options
available in the Epson products portfolio. The event which
unveiled a 7-man EPSON team led by Shaun Robinson, Account Manager,
Africa who said that Epson has over 100 years tradition of creating
products that are smaller and more precise.Epson has a vision
to drive digital image innovations by providing cutting-edge imaging
solutions focused on the fields of imaging on paper, imaging on screen,
and imaging on glass. Shaun Robinson listed the products-Epson Inks,
photo paper, Inkjet printers, Laser Printers, Projectors and Scanners.
Resellers and many end users were excited by the TX800FW and the
EMP400We. Mr. Robinson explained that the TX800FW is a heavy weight
performer, a new statement in design for a dynamic lifestyle with
wireless connectivity and high quality document and photo printing.According
to him, the TX800FW enables printer sharing in offices, has an array of
functions including scanning, faxing, copying and printing. It has
amazing speed, capable of duplex printing, high resolution printing and
produces intricate details accurately. In her demonstration,
Nieve Cavanagh, Epson’s Business Development Manager, referred to the
EMP400We as an educational projector that enables interactivity with
students. She recounted that the projector is perfect for use with
interactive white boards, projects without shadows (ultra short throw),
easy to maintain with network monitoring and control and has enhanced
anti-theft features. The resellers and end users demanded for
after sales support, which Epson said it was prepared to put in place.
They complained that in the past they have seen very good Epson
products perform badly in the market because of non-existent of after
sales support.End users also queried Epson’s pricing policy and
advised that it should be competitive enough to guarantee patronage. In
his reaction Robinson explained that by mid-year there would be an
Epson office physically in Nigeria for the purpose of after sales
support. On the issue of pricing, Robinson said that they were as
competitive as they could be without compromising the very high quality
for which Epson is known. He assured the Resellers that they would
always be adequately rewarded for selling Epson products. In her
contribution, Mrs Chioma Chimere, the General Manager Marketing,
Technology Distributions, said that Epson has shown commitment to the
Nigerian market through the size and quality of the Epson marketing
team. Chimere expressed satisfaction at the sustained high quality
standards of the Epson products. She noted that the Nigerian ICT market
was opening up every day and the resellers must take advantage of the
Epson proposition to increase their market shares and turnover. Mrs
Chimere said some users who complained about the compatibility of the
Epson ink have problems with ink only when they buy fake ink from
unauthorized channels. She urged the resellers to always buy
from TD and save themselves the discomfort of buying the same ink again
and as TD would always gain thus increasing the total cost of
ownership. Chimere assured the resellers that TD would remain the
ultimate source of genuine and high quality ICT products from original
manufacturers. -
