Essendant Makes Senior Management Changes

Business supplies and office products wholesaler Essendant has announced some major organisational changes as it looks to simplify its management structure.
Business supplies and office products wholesaler Essendant has announced some major organisational changes as it looks to simplify its management structure.
The company had said in July that it would be taking action after it reported disappointing second quarter results, and has now released details of senior-level changes.
The wholesaler is now being organised around its two main customer channels: business and facility essentials, and industrial essentials.
Harry Dochelli will serve as President of Business & Facility Essentials. Industry veteran Dochelli has been with Essendant for four years and most recently led the sales and care teams.
Heading the Industrial Essentials division is Ric Phillips, most recently President of the ORS Nasco industrial products unit. He will continue in this role and also add oversight of the MEDCO automotive and CPO divisions.
Both execs will report directly to CEO Bob Aiken.
Essendant also announced that COO Tim Connolly will be leaving the company as of 2 September and that it will not be seeking a replacement for him.
“Harry and Ric have demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities, and I am confident that their experience and guidance will be instrumental in driving Essendant’s future success,” said Aiken.
“These changes will bring us closer to our customers and better align our business to our primary customer channels. Importantly, our new structure will better position us to drive future growth, improve execution and deliver shareholder value."
Aiken added: "Tim Connolly made many outstanding contributions to our company during his tenure. We thank him and wish him the very best in the future."
Essendant has also announced a senior merchandising appointment. Keith Dougherty will join the company as SVP of Merchandising, Inventory & Pricing. Dougherty joins Essendant from US Foods where he spent the past 15 years, most recently as SVP of Category Management, Pricing and National Sales.
“I am confident that, through [Keith’s] efforts, we will better align with our suppliers to serve our customers while delivering value to our shareholders,” said Aiken.
