Georgia Printer of Lottery Tickets Expands, Adds 40 Jobs
Scientific Games of Alpharetta is expanding its lottery ticket printing operations, and will add 40 jobs in Forsyth County.
by Deb BeltAn Alpharetta company that prints lottery scratch tickets for more than 120 lotteries worldwide is adding an estimated 40 jobs in Forsyth County as it expands its printing capacity, according to a news release.
Scientific Games has acquired a manufacturing system — Alpha P-7 — that can print 9 billion lottery tickets annually. Alpha P-7 is essentially 20 printing presses electronically networked together, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The company will celebrate the operational debut of Alpha P-7 at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 24 with guests expected to include Gov. Nathan Deal and Debbie Alford, president and CEO of the Georgia Lottery Corporation.
The additional manufacturing volume created by Alpha P-7 is projected to add about 40 manufacturing jobs in 2014.
Global sales of scratch-off lottery ticket are about $70 billion, the Business Chronicle says. The lottery division accounts for about half of Scientific Games revenue. The company designs and manufactures more than 3,500 instant lottery games annually in Atlanta, Montreal, Santiago, Beijing and Leeds, England.
Revenue from the Georgia Lottery helps fund the HOPE Scholarship and Georgia Pre-K Program, the company said.
