HP becomes big in Brazil
Revenue up, everyone happy
MAKER
OF PRINTER INK, Hewlett Packard, has reported Q2 revenues up eleven per
cent to 28.3 billion dollars, compared with a meagre 25.5 billion in
the same quarter of last year.Profit was 2.1 billion dollars, up 16 per
cent from 1.8 billion last year.The BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia,
India and China) grew strongest, namely 26 per cent in the last 12
months and all in all accounted for 10 per cent of total revenue. EMEA
(Europe, Middle East and Asia) grew 16 per cent.HP Notebooks were in
high demand, with sales up by 31 per cent. Desktops, however, seem to
need a makeover as revenues stayed as flat as the earth in the Middle
Ages.The company stoked its crystal balls and predicted that revenue
will be somewhere between 27.3 billion to 27.4 billion dollars in Q3.
