Hp Names Robert Vrij To New Enterprise Sales Chief Position
Robert Vrij has been appointed as Hewlett Packard's first head of enterprise sales for the Americas division.

Hewlett Packard has overhauled its sales organization structure by bringing on Alcatel-Lucent global sales chief Robert Vrij for the new role of head of enterprise sales. 

Vrij will report to Bill Veghte, executive vice president and general of HP's enterprise group, which makes servers and networking equipment and accounts for about 40 percent of the company's revenue. Vrij came on board in November, but HP announced the move today.

The new appointment represents a rejiggering of HP's sales organization in the western hemisphere. Previously the company had sales chiefs for the U.S., Canada and Latin America but no one over them. Those leads will now report to Vrij.

With the new appointment, HP could be hoping to reverse a negative trend for the division. Although it accounts for $28.1 billion in revenue, it has been in a steady decline thanks to shifting business needs and a competitive pricing environment as networking providers face pressure from software-focused competitors. HP's enterprise business declined 5.3 percent from 2011 to 2012, and another 5.4 percent from 2012 to 2013, with the bulk of the decline seen in the commodity servers that are the core of HP's networking business.
