Hewlett-Packard donates $500K for Haiti relief, promises up to another
$250K
Hewlett-Packard Co. says it will donate $500,000 to the
American Red
Cross International Response Fund to support relief efforts in Haiti.The
company also said it would match up to $250,000 in employee
donations to the cause.The American Red Cross estimates 45,000 to 50,000
people were killed in
the earthquake that struck Tuesday.HP is the world’s No. 1 seller of
personal computers.

Canon, HP
donate to Haiti relief
The Canon Group and
Hewlett-Packard Co. both announced large cash donations to the Haiti
relief and recovery efforts after the earthquake that rocked the region
earlier in the week.
The Canon Group, which includes Canon U.S.A.
Inc., will be making a $220,000 donation through the Red Cross
Organization which is currently coordinating efforts to pass out
supplies – such as food and clean water – and offer important medial
services.HP announced they will donate $500,000 to the American Red
Cross International Response Fund as well as match up to $250,000 in
employee donations.As coverage continues, major news organizations are
estimating that there could be 100,000 to 150,000 casualties in the
capital alone. As of Friday, the death toll was reported around 13,000,
a U.N. official told CNN.com.
