You’ve just arrived home to print out your proposal for your new client, but unbeknownst to you little Billy, proud of his latest school project, has just spent all afternoon printing copies for every member of the family. Needless to say the ink’s run dry by the time you get home.
If you have an HP web-enabled or networked printer then there’s a free app that can potentially help you avoid this situation. SureSupply by HP, formerly eSupplies, is an app that can not only allow you to monitor your ink cartridge levels or toner supply, when connected to the same network, it can also push an alert to your iOS or Android device to give you a heads up so you can to stop at the nearest store to pick up a replacement.
It’ll be easy to remember which cartridge you need, because all the details of your printer and cartridges are right on your phone. The app can also help you find a place to buy and compare prices. Or, if you’re not in a hurry, depending on where you live, you might also order them right on-line.
Is it the real thing?
Of course you want to verify before you buy that the HP product you’re buying is genuine. To do that you can simply scan the QR Code located on the box using the app – or any QR code reader for that matter, to ensure you are buying the real thing.
The latest version, 2.0 with the new branding has been simplified for better navigation and includes a new user-friendly FAQ.
SureSupply for iOS, available through the Apple app store, runs on all iPad models, iPhone 3GS and later and iPod touch 3rd gen and later, running at least iOS 4.3. The Android version, available through Google Play, runs on most devices running Android 2.0 and later.
Unfortunately, the only thing the app won’t help you with is convincing Billy that not every member of the family, especially the dog, needs a copy of his latest school project.
