Hp To Expand its Ink Manufacturing Facility in Singapore.

SINGAPORE: Hewlett-Packard (HP) is expanding its operations in Singapore. It will open a new Graphics Solution Centre of Excellence and expand its ink manufacturing facility in Singapore.

HP said the 21,000-sq-metre facility will allow printing companies to benchmark and test their HP digital printing equipment, as well as house a training centre.

The new expansion to the ink manufacturing plant will take up 10,000 sq metres of the new facility and support the production of HP's Indigo ink. The new plant is expected to create more than 100 jobs for Singapore in the next five years, most of which will include technical professionals and training personnel.

The digital printing industry is forecast to grow at a 20 per cent compounded annual growth rate between 2013 and 2018.

Ms Thien Kwee Eng, assistant managing director of the Economic Development Board, said: "Printing is an important industry and the new HP Graphics Solutions Centre of Excellence and second Indigo ink manufacturing plant will help to transform the industry to capture opportunities from the growth of digital printing."

The new ink manufacturing plant is scheduled to open in 2015.
