Is Fuji Xerox Remanufactring Toners In Thailand?

Fuji Xerox targets higher profit for recycling company with RM13.5 million investment

INCREASING FEATURES: In order to increase the company’s profits, Fuji Xerox has to increase its re-manufacturing and re-usability of its products.

PATTAYA: Fuji Xerox Co Ltd (Fuji Xerox) aims to make its recycling company, Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing Co Ltd, in Chonburi Thailand, more profitable.

Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing is the centre of Fuji Xerox’s International Resource Recycling System in Thailand.

Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd’s sustainability head, Amanda Keogh, said the company has invested RM13.5 million in the plant.

She said in order to increase the company’s profits, Fuji Xerox has to increase its re-manufacturing and re-usability of its products.

“Malaysia and eight other countries in the Asia-Pacific will collect their end-of-life Fuji Xerox devices and send to the recycling facility in Thailand,” she told a media briefing after the tour of the plant here yesterday.

She said the end-of-life products, which consisted mainly of photocopier parts and cartridges were sent to Chonburi to be refurbished, salvaged and disposed of.

Meanwhile, Fuji Xerox Eco-Manufacturing’s group general manager, Yoshihiro Sasaki, said the recycling system has achieved zero landfill goal from the disposal of used products and consumables.

“The plant disassembles and sorts the products into 88 categories including steel, aluminium, lenses, glasses and copper for recycling.

“In August 2000, the company became the first in Japan to achieve zero landfill goal from collected used products,” he said.

Sasaki said Fuji Xerox was the first company in the industry to introduce products containing recycled parts to the Japanese market in 1995.

Fuji Xerox made a full-scale introduction of the recycling systems of the quality equivalent to the one in Japan, in Thailand in December 2004, and then in Suzhou, China in January 2008.

“Fuji Xerox is committed to further reinforce the Integrated Recycling System, which is an advanced model for achieving business growth and environmental conservation at the same time,” he said.

He gave an assurance that Fuji Xerox would continue to maintain its quality in the production of copiers, printers and cartridges eventhough they were made from recycled materials.
