    Fake toner products worth Dh35m seized in RAK
    The counterfeit goods were intended for circulation in UAE markets.

    Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah Police have seized counterfeit products including ink and toner cartridges worth Dh35 million from a villa in RAK city and a warehouse in another emirate and busted a gang of Asians involved in the crime.

    Brigadier Abdullah Khamis Al Hadidi, acting chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said on Tuesday the Organised Crimes Section of Ras Al Khaimah Police was alerted about some Asian residents dealing in counterfeit products of a number of well-known trade marks. The gang rented a villa in a residential area to cover their crime.

    This vital information was relayed to Ras Al Khaimah Police who in turn formed a team to investigate the accuracy of the reported information which resulted in successful raids.

    Major Mohammad Abdullah Al Qasimi, acting director of the Criminal Investigations Department, said the suspects were caught red-handed. “The tools used in the counterfeit process, along with the duplicate products were seized. The suspects admitted to the crime,” he said. “They told police that they rented the villa to carry out their illegal activity,” he said.

    Police also found that the gang had a warehouse in other emirates to store the counterfeit products.

    Police recovered counterfeits goods from the warehouse and the villa worth Dh35 million.

    The counterfeit goods worth Dh35 million were intended to be circulated in UAE markets.

    Three people, of Chinese nationality, were arrested and Ras Al Khaimah Police have started a criminal investigation.
