LASER-PRINTER SALES UP IN BRAZILIAN MARKET
In
April 2009, Inkjet Printers still had the biggest share in the market,
with almost 70% of the units sold, followed by Laser (22%), Thermal
(5%) and Matrix (4%). In terms of value, Inkjet Printers represented
only 43% of sales; Laser accounting for about 36%, followed by Matrix
(14%) and Thermal (7%). Inkjet sales declined in value terms between
November 2008 and April 2009, dropping from 55% of the printer total to
43%. In contrast, Laser Printers have risen in value terms during the
same period, from 25% to a market share of 36%.
For the first
time in 12 months, Multifunction Devices (MFDs) with configuration of
maximum 10 PPM (pages per minute) had the lowest market share, of 8%.
On the other hand MFDs offering 16-20 PPM doubled their share between
April 2008 and April 2009, accounting for almost 28% of the market,
which resulted in a reduction in market share for MFDs below 15 PPM
configuration.
