Lexmark International Inc said it agreed to buy privately-held
Perceptive Software for about $280 million in cash.
Perceptive, which
generated revenue of $84 million in 2009, makes enterprise content
management software that helps businesses manage their documents and
content.The acquisition is expected to add to Lexmark’s 2011 adjusted
earnings, the company said in a statement.Perceptive will retain its
current name and operate as a stand-alone software business, Lexmark
said.Perceptive’s CEO Scott Coons will continue in his current role and
become a vice president at Lexmark.
The transaction is expected
to close in the second quarter of 2010.Shares of Lexmark were up 27
cents at $35.12 in early morning trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
