Opponents of closing Easton postal facility voice their concerns
SALISBURY MD– Postal workers, residents, government officials and business owners are opposing plans to shut down the Easton mail processing facility.

As part of that opposition, pre-written letters addressed to the U.S. Postal Service district office in Baltimore are being circulated at various locations, including the recent "Get Connected" business expo at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.

The letters request a Salisbury meeting on the facility closure and list grievances — including an expected additional two to three days for local mail delivery "due to the unique location of the Eastern Shore."

"Closure of Easton would have a huge impact on Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset counties — from one day delivery 1st Class to two to three days and an increase in postage." said Sally Jones, owner of Copier/Printer Rejuvenators, which opened in Salisbury in 1990. "This is serious and we need to get it out to the public. It would really affect businesses."
