NEW JERSEY MAN BUSTED STEALING $97,000.00 WORTH OF TONER

Lakewood Resident Charged with BurglaryReportedly stole office supplies from former employer

A Lakewood resident was arrested and charged in the burglary of items from his former employer according to a release on Wednesday from the Howell Township Police Department.

Mor Melamed, 28, who is also an Israeli citizen, is charged with third degree burglary, second degree theft and fourth degree criminal mischief.

The Howell Police Department reported that on Dec. 25 of last year Melamed reportedly forced entry into Office PAL, a business on Route 547. At that time it was reported that a Dell computer and $97,000 in toner cartridges were stolen.

Surveillance cameras capture the incident and according to the Howell Police Department, the vehicle used was registered to Just 4 Wheels in Lakewood. The IP address of the stolen computer was traced to Brooklyn, NY and found to be in the possession Melamed’s girlfriend Meirah Feldman.

Melamed had been selling the cartridges on Ebay and had reportedly said they were damaged or used. A man who bought many of the cartridges provided receipts  and they, along with the checks used to purchase the cartridges were subpoenaed as part of the investigation. Melamed was also seen on bank surveillance videos depositing the checks in question.

Detective Janet Benitez handled the investigation and the arrest of Melamed. Bail was set on Tuesday at $95,000 with no 10 percent by Judge Thomas Scully. Melamed is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
