new mexico : HP plans Rio Rancho job fair
While
some companies are handing out pink slips, technology giant
Hewlett-Packard is handing out job applications and taking resumes. The
second career fair in three months for the yet-to-be-opened Rio Rancho
facility is scheduled for Monday, March 2, at the Santa Ana Star Event
Center in the community northwest of Albuquerque.
Organizers say
the company is being very specific about the job positions it needs to
fill. Those positions are inside sales, technical support and technical
solutions consultants. However, applicants who do not meet the
requirements for those jobs will be directed to contact the NM
Workforce Connection for information on job services that might help
them apply for future HP positions. The services provided by Workforce
Connection include interviewing, and resume and salary negotiation
workshops.
Hewlett-Packard has touted the Rio Rancho facility
for some time. It expects to employ more than 1,350 by the start of
2013 and plans to open this year in late December. HP anticipates
having 1,800 full-time employees in 15 years and the company says the
majority of the jobs will be high paying, with an expected annual
payroll of $54 million.
