Projected 5 Percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for Office Printer and Copier Supplies Revenue through 2008
LYRA RESEARCH
Lyra projects that worldwide office hardware revenue will grow from
just over $42 billion in 2004 to $43 billion in 2008, a CAGR of less
than 1 percent. In contrast, worldwide supplies revenue from offices
will increase from $48.9 billion in 2004 to $59.3 billion in 2008, a 5
percent CAGR.
Because it accounts for 60 percent of total hard copy industry revenue,
the office market is vital for hard copy hardware and supplies vendors.
The office environment is hardly an untapped market, however, and its
maturity poses a distinct set of challenges to imaging industry
players. With hardware sales slumping, vendors are increasingly turning
to supplies as their primary profit driver.
