United Stationers Acquires Daisytek, Inc. for $1M

United Stationers has confirmed to opi.net that it has acquired Daisytek, Inc. for $1 million.  The purchase is believed to be a defensive move by United in order to acquire ownership of the Daisytek name and the intellectual property attached to it before any other interested parties could move in.

United SVP/CFO Kathy Dvorak confirmed to opi.net: “It was the intellectual property that we were interested in.  Their software provides a resource to us and to the market in terms of product compatibility information.  They also had several URLs that we think have marketplace recognition and may be valuable to us.”  United acquired the business in an auction yesterday.  OPI, released August 28. TOP
