All Xerox Workers Get MP3 Players

(Rochester, N.Y.) – Call it a perk for workers at a company on the rebound.All
55,000 Xerox employees worldwide, including more than 8,000 in
Rochester, are getting a gift from CEO Anne Mulcahy.MP3 players are
arriving at the homes of workers. The device comes in Xerox colors with
the company logo.Xerox executives say the last five years have been
rocky, but they believe the company is turning around, thanks, in large
part, to the employees.
The MP3 player comes with a message from Mulcahy.
The
players can be used for entertainment, but it can also be used for
work. Employees can download podcasts for information or training
purposes.“It’s innovative technology, like what Chester Carlson did 70
years ago with xerography, which revolutionized the face of the office
community, and they can use it in the work world,” said spokesman Bill
McKee.A few years ago, Excellus rolled out a pilot program giving
doctors personal digital assistants capable of downloading drug
formularies.
