    Carbon Neutral Banana-based Paper
Papyrus Australia Ltd. has developed a unique papermaking method converting banana tree trunks into paper using minimal energy when compared with traditional pulp-based processes. The company’s patented Papyrus process uses no chemicals and water is a by-product of the manufacturing. The company is undertaking a life cycle analysis including an evaluation of the impact of removing the waste trunks from banana farms. “The existing paper industry has a large environmental and carbon footprint. The Papyrus process offers the industry a timely and practical solution to reducing this footprint without a massive investment in new technology,” says Papyrus chairman Dr David Wyatt. http://www.papyrusaustralia.com.au
