Mainland makers boost production capacity
Color inkjet cartridge
Prices continue to fall as production scale expands. Makers improve
product development capabilities to gain a competitive edge
Mainland China ink cartridge makers are on a continuous expansion mode
to meet rising demand. Makers are also beefing up their product
development capabilities in order to stay competitive. Timely releases
of compatible units give mainland makers a much-needed advantage over
competitors. In addition, the ability to make structural modifications
and develop their own ICs help makers avoid patent issues with original
brand vendors.
Although growth is high among makers, they still face competition from
original color ink cartridge vendors as well as makers of low-cost,
counterfeit ink cartridges. To combat these challenges, leading
mainland makers rely on capacity expansions as a way to increase
production scale and offer their products at competitive prices.
Epson and Canon are the leading printer brands for which makers produce
either compatible or remanufactured units. All of the makers
interviewed in this report supply their products to foreign OEMs and
ODMs.
