City of Hope to honour Staples’ Sargent

2005 – Chicago (IL): The City of Hope has announced that the 2006
Spirit of Life award will be presented to Ron Sargent, chairman and CEO
of Staples.
The award is being presented to Sargent, in honour of
his outstanding business and philanthropic leadership, by the national
office products industry on 8 September 2006, at the Chicago Hilton.
Over
900 members of the OP industry are expected to attend the event, with
proceeds going towards the 2006 Spirit of Life campaign “Give.Hope.”,
helping fund the City of Hope’s centre for biomedicine and genetics.Staples swoops for is.group member

2005 – Framingham (MA): Unconfirmed reports have stated that Staples’
business delivery division has bought is.group member Bumbargers, based
in Hickory, North Carolina, for an unknown sum.
Bumbargers is said to have annual revenues in the region of $3-7 million.
