Color Cartridge Production Increasing, HP Still King
Recharger Magazine’s Production Survey takes us back to basics — how many cartridges do remanufacturers produce in-house and what types of cartridges are these? The answers are not too surprising — toner still rules the roost, color is gaining momentum and HP is an aftermarket favorite.
To discover what is happening in production work areas around the industry, we surveyed attendees of Recharger Magazine’s World Expo 2005 in Las Vegas. A total of 471 people answered the survey, including 195 people who indicated that they do not remanufacture cartridges in-house. The remaining respondents answered at least one of the other survey questions. The number of people answering the individual questions will be noted with each question.
The overall survey respondents represent companies that have been in business for an average of 10.8 years, and they sell 75 percent of their cartridges to end users and 25 percent to resellers. The geographic distribution of respondents is 68 percent from the U.S. and 32 percent from outside the U.S.
