Global Issues, Central and Eastern European Involvement Are Focus of Industry Forum (IF) East Meets West

As countries around The world come to terms with the realities of resource depletion and environmental suffocation, more opportunites are arising for discussion and action. One of those opportunities is the Industry Forum (IF) East Meets West, scheduled at the Sofitel Victoria, Warsaw, Poland, on October 25-26, 2004.

IF East Meets West will provide the platform for exploration of issues such as cartridge remanufacturing, availability of empties, and chip technology, among others. Here, industry partners will come together to address the impact of many global and local issues, to identify business opportunities, and to forge new business relationships.

Since May 2004, when the European Union welcomed Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia as new member states, the European Union has become the largest trading market in the world. The potential for sales and remanufacturing business has grown enormously. Around the world companies are looking at this market to see what new opportunities will develop.

Some of the questions to be asked, as delegates focus on Central and Eastern Europe, will be: What is the size of the market for OEM & remanufactured products? What are the benefits of the enlarged market? What are the difficulties? What are the labour and skills benefits and issues? Who are the key players? What are the OEMs doing about this market?

The Industry Forum and Conference is co-ordinated by The Recycler Limited of the United Kingdom. Information is available by e-mail at if@therecycler.com or from the ifconference or Recycler Web sites.

IF sponsors are APM, The AQC Group, KMP PrintTechnik AG, Sensient Imaging Technologies, Static Control Components (Europe) Limited, Baiksan OPC, and Lyson.

They are joined by event speakers David Connett, an engineer and active remanufacturer prior to taking over Recycler Trade Magazine five years ago, who for the last two years has lobbied to get the WEEE Directive through the European Parliament and who serves as vice president of the recently formed ETIRA (European Toner & Inkjet Remanufacturers Association); Vincent van Dijk, who started his own firm, Van Dijk EU Consultancy, in 2002, providing strategic counsel, and who was appointed Secretary General of ETIRA earlier this year; and Steven Bambridge, Principal Analyst for Lyra Research-Europe, who has global responsibility for research, analysis and forecasting of desktop ink jet supplies, including both ink jet speciality media and ink jet cartridges, and provides consultation to Lyra’s clients on these topics.

The IF East meets West price includes all conference events except hotel accommodations.
