industry to gather in fight against counterfeiters
November
2005 – London (UK): OPI and ICCE (The Imaging Consumables Coalition of
Europe) are to hold the industry’s first conference on the problem of
piracy and brand counterfeiting.
This International Conference,
entitled “Europe Under Seige: An Industry Response”, will be held on 10
May in Brussels, Belgium, at the World Customs Organisation.
The
event is designed to provide a forum to discuss how the imaging
supplies industry has tackled the problem of counterfeiting, and to
promote further debate on creative brand protection ideas that can be
utilised in the future. As such, it is of interest to all brand owners
and indeed everyone concerned with combating the menace. We invite you
to be part of this unique opportunity of networking and learning.
Phil
Scrase, chairman of ICCE and VP of the consumables division at Oki
Printing Solutions Europe, said: “These days, products and brand
information cross the global market place at phenomenal speeds. ICCE
now estimates that up to 10 per cent of the €30 billion imaging
supplies industry in Europe market may be represented by counterfeit
products.
“At last we have an industry event that will allow us to
get together, discuss detection enforcement and lobbying stategies, and
find ways to really fight these counterfeiters.”
