Christmas
time is one of the most wasteful times of the year. And with 1.9
billion holiday cards making their way across the country between
Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, it’s reason enough to step back and
think about the true costs of consumerism. While many people take the
effort to recycle their paper goods, currently only 5% of empty inkjet
cartridges are recycled or disposed of in a
proper manner.
December
2005 — Christmas time is one of the most wasteful times of the year.
Just think about it: wrapping paper, packages, boxes, cards, envelopes
and more. Plus, many people are creating their own holiday cards on
their computers now, increasing the amount of paper and printer
cartridge waste to hit the landfills. And with 1.9 billion holiday

‘Tis the season for
giving-and lots of it! The Christmas holiday season brings with it
packages and presents, gifts and gadgets. Items are sent across the
country to bring a smile to loved ones’ faces. But along with the
festive cheer comes a mountain pile of waste that exceeds 25% of the
average level for households-that’s roughly 1 million tons a week going
into the landfills. (EPA)

But
there’s hope yet this Christmas. PrintCountry, a San Diego based
company, (www.printcountry.com) offers an inkjet cartridge recycling
program that takes your old, empty cartridges and recycles them for
future use, rather than dumping them in the trash. Many people don’t
think of the effects printer cartridges can have on the environment,
but with more and more people owning their own printers, it’s cause for
concern.
While selling quality printer supplies to the masses,
PrintCountry wants to give back to the environment, and that is exactly
what their recycling program is all about. While everyone contributes
to the waste problem, everyone can also do their part to help out.
Sending your empty inkjet cartridges, toner and even cell phones to the
PrintCountry Recycle Program can help save the environment. -
