HP declares inkjet printer price war
MARCH 2005
Whether you loved her or loathed her, there’s going to be at least one
undeniable benefit out of Carly Fiorina’s ouster as CEO of
HP: the company is declaring a price war over inkjet printers. Apparently
Carly was reluctant to cut prices on printers because she thought it would hurt
profit margins too much, but now that she’s gone, whoever is in charge now is
supposedly going to go after Lexmark and Dell with a vengeance. So how low are
they gonna go? It’s not clear yet, but if we’re lucky, they’ll slash prices
where it really counts: on all that grossly overpriced printer ink.
