IBM, Ingram’s Nimax Ink Printer Distribution Pact
IBM
on Wednesday unveiled a global distribution deal for its high-end
production printers with Ingram Micro’s Nimax unit.Nimax will act as a
channel source for IBM’s Infoprint 6700 Thermal/RFID, Infoprint 6500
and Infoprint 4247 impact printers, according to IBM’s Boulder,
Colo.-based printing unit and Nimax. The Nimax unit of Ingram Micro,
which the Santa Ana, Calif., distributor acquired in 2004, focuses on
automatic identification/data capture (AIDC), point-of-sale and mobile
products. The printers IBM has targeted for distribution through Nimax
play into that core focus.A thermal printing unit, the Infoprint 6700
supports barcode solutions and has flexible media handling, as well as
an option for RFID printing. The Infoprint 6500 is a line matrix
printer, and the Infoprint 4247 is a high-output unit targeted at
manufacturing, distribution and transportation solutions.
